Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forums, but have been a Gretsch fan for years. After saving for a long time I am finally ready to purchase a Gretsch White Falcon (my dream guitar). I have wanted a made in the USA guitar and was wondering if anyone on the forum could tell me if a 1998 is a made in the USA? The seller is unsure and the back of the headstock has no marking. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Greetings Frank!!! welcome to the forum!!! a 1998 White Falcon is made in Japan...l can assure you that the Japanese Proline Gretsch guitars are extremely well made...only the Custom Shop Gretsch guitars come out of the USA...l own two Japanese Prolines..a 6128T-GC Jet & a 6136T-LTV White Falcon....both are incredible guitars that lack nothing in comparison..you stated that there are no markings on the back of the headstock...that raises alarm bells because it should contain the serial number and country of origin there....l would tread very carefully & get it verified before parting with any cash!!! all the best...cheers!!

Agreed. My Japanese White Falcon is easily the nicest electric guitar I've owned, American or otherwise. Don't fall into the "if it's not American it's no good" trap. This is not a Fender forum... ;)

I have an '04 Stephen Stills Falcon, and I will also testify for the Japanese made models. I love this guitar and have zero regrets.
