(1960)I was looking at the strap that is decoration around the amp, does any one know how wide the strap is? I'd also like to know the height of the speaker area as well as the round speaker hole. Thanks in advance

Sorry I sold my G Brand Gretsch (one of them), cowboy case and matching amp to a collector about 5 years ago. I believe the "belt" around the amp was 1 1/4 inches. It was wider that the trim on the case.

Thanks Pilgrim . . I'm toying with the idea of building a replica amp using the size and styling of that amp with a different amp inside. I have some pictures from one that was sold on ebay. But by scaling the picture with known dimensions it looked like the straps are closer to 2 " so I'm trying to get a definite size

On the other Gretsch forum there have been 1 or 2 threads on that amp in the past year. There should be at least two people there with the original cowboy amp. Maybe they can help?

Thanks, I'll sneak over there and see if I can dredge up some info there.

I think it is probably the size of a regular belt, like 1 and 1/2. The trick is the Gretsch imprint is rolled on those things and the only way to copy it, is by hand carving it, which ain't cheap!!
