(1960)I was looking at the strap that is decoration around the amp, does any one know how wide the strap is? I'd also like to know the height of the speaker area as well as the round speaker hole. Thanks in advance

Question on a Gretsch 6161 Cowboy ampPacRat June 9th, 2012, 05:12 PM (1960)I was looking at the strap that is decoration around the amp, does any one know how wide the strap is? I'd also like to know the height of the speaker area as well as the round speaker hole. Thanks in advance PacRat June 10th, 2012, 08:48 PM Bump a dee bump pilgrim June 10th, 2012, 09:19 PM Sorry I sold my G Brand Gretsch (one of them), cowboy case and matching amp to a collector about 5 years ago. I believe the "belt" around the amp was 1 1/4 inches. It was wider that the trim on the case. PacRat June 11th, 2012, 10:57 AM Thanks Pilgrim . . I'm toying with the idea of building a replica amp using the size and styling of that amp with a different amp inside. I have some pictures from one that was sold on ebay. But by scaling the picture with known dimensions it looked like the straps are closer to 2 " so I'm trying to get a definite size PacRat June 14th, 2012, 12:20 PM Still looking for that info guys and gals . . . . Michiel June 14th, 2012, 05:02 PM On the other Gretsch forum there have been 1 or 2 threads on that amp in the past year. There should be at least two people there with the original cowboy amp. Maybe they can help? PacRat June 14th, 2012, 05:58 PM Thanks, I'll sneak over there and see if I can dredge up some info there. pilgrim June 23rd, 2012, 08:07 PM Cream City Music has a Cowboy Amp at least they DID! bobkat June 23rd, 2012, 09:07 PM I think it is probably the size of a regular belt, like 1 and 1/2. The trick is the Gretsch imprint is rolled on those things and the only way to copy it, is by hand carving it, which ain't cheap!! |
