Left handed electromatics!!!

Hey everyone, a left handed gretsch enthusiast here. I really love the G5120, but there is nothing like it left handed in that price range. Could this be flipped over left handed easily? If not, are there any alternatives that are similar, regardless of the brand. I just love that look and sound.
Thanks in advance!

Technically, I guess you could just change the nut to make it left handed, but the cutaway will be ineffective for giving access to the upper frets, and the the bigsby handle would be awkward.

I'm left handed in most things, but play guitar right handed. I've heard that left handedness is the next step in human evolution;)

Peerless Gigmaster? Peerless makes insanely good guitars (and makes many guitars for the major brands anyhow)

Have you tried Southpaw and Jerry's Lefty? They are in the US but you could at least get some ideas of what is available.

Do you want an Electromatic because of the price?

if you were gonna switch sides I would get a 5122 double-cut instead.

Would this work? I agree that a double cutaway would allow higher fret access, but I'm just wondering, will there be any problems flipping one. Yeah I know about the nut and the bigsby, but will it intonate properly upside down?

I'd recommend checking out the G5191 Tim Armstrong model. It's a fatty with 17" body width and 2.75" deep! I was able to snag one with $100 off from Sam Ash's website!

The 2 downsides: 1. No case; 2. No Bigsby

turn the bridge around and that should be fine
it will look odd with the knobs and bigsby handle on top

El Guapo makes a good point. Those are some nice models. If you wanted a Jet, they make left handed jets I think? Either way still buying a LH bigsby if you wanted one, but this way all the stuff would be on the right side...

east wood Guitars UK can supply a country gent alike in lefty with a bigsby B6 fitted, for about £560 with case. I was considering this option, instead of the lefty gretsch projet. I have now decided to have some custom work on my Aria hollow body, bigsby new pups etc as it will cost less.

Hello, Gretsch is offering a G5420 LH series. You'll have to buy a bigsby just like I will have to do down the road, but the guitar is awesome. I just received it yesterday and I've been playing non-stop (off work at 10pm, played until 1am, and worked again at 8am). I personally hate the look of the double cut away. The G5191 is still out of my price range at this time. The turners would definitely be a huge advantage.

Regardless, I paid about $619 for the guitar (gently used) from musicians friend as they will not ship new to Canada. The only thing that would betray that it was used was that the foam under the bridge was removed. granted between shipping and GST I paid about an extra $250 to get it here. Depending on where you are I would definitely recommend this guitar, and like the armstrong version it is a baldwin era gretsch. Personally I love it and have been waiting for about 7 years to be able to afford a gretsch. Cheers

Did you buy the Orange one from MF/music123? Man, I was seriously considering pulling the trigger on that one. Only reason I didn't is because I'm still paying off my G5191! LOL!!!

I wonder why there isn't a lefty with G5420 with a Bigsby in their current range? Hmmm.

I guess making lefty bigsby's is more expensive. I actually haven't seen lefty licensed bigsby's, only the original ones and they are more expensive than a regular righty bigsby. I assume there is more than meets the eye in producing a lefty bigsby.

Hi TomThe Lefty, killer_klown1, and Leftyjet, welcome to the forum! You lefties are underepresented here. Speak up and let it be known what a large customer base most manufacturers are not addressing seriously.
