Need Help on New Pickups

Ok so I have just bought the new solid body Korean projet and I love how it plays and sounds, except for one thing. When I play classic rock or any rock for that matter, I feel like I'm not getting enough power or tone. I currently have the blacktop filtertron pickups that came with it, and I'm thinking I should replace them. Anyone have an idea on what I should do? It sounds like a supertron and a powertron combo might be good.

How bright are these? And do you think much of that has to do with it being a solid body vs. Hollow? Just ordered a 5240 without playing one.

Synchro's advice on the Powertrons is good. I've got Balcktop, Filters and Powertrons and the latter are the rock round you are looking for.

How different are these? Powertrons I believe are TVJ's. and the Classics?

Classics are basically a warm, mellow vintage Filtertron sound. Powertrons are probably more along the lines of a Gibson PAF.

I think they're a little more midrangy and growly. I like them and they sound great for rock music. They'll overdrive the front end of your amp nicely.

Which ones, the Classics?

The PowerTrons. I have them in my White Pro-Jet. At first I wasn’t crazy about them (the PJ came with them already installed) but now that I’ve adjusted them and become used to their tone, I really like them. They still sound sweet and still sound Gretsch-like, but with more snarl, gain and mids.

Yep, Crooner hit it bang on. I had some wiring issues with my Power Jet but once sorted out, the Powertrons are very nice and are a great rock pickup.

Tony, I am going to see how these Black Tops do first, if I hate them I might hate the guitar, if I like them and later want something different I really liked the Classic ones I heard on the TV Jones web page...those were right up my alley.

thanks
