Greetings,
Well, I took the advice of Synchro and others, and went with the Pro-line G6117T-HT I found. This is my first Gretsch, and I am really please so far. The guitar sounds great plugged in, but I'm also pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds acoustically (I played a few Gretsches in the store, but could never hear them acoustically due to the noise).

I'm going to replace the Space Control bridge--it seems to rattle when I strum--but otherwise, I'm happy.

The only bad thing -- I think I'm gonna need to get me a 6120 at some point...damn GAS!!

A Carvin V3M. Three channels, lots of flexibility to dial in sounds for a variety of guitars I play.

totally cool!! yes get that bolt of a bridge off of there. a tonepros AVR-II is a perfect replacement if you are a fan of the ABR-1. these dont rattle period plus they lock onto the saddle posts with a set screw which even further couples the strings to the body.

Hmm...interesting, though I've heard so many good things about the Comptons, I think I may give that a shot.

Outstanding! That guitar, with those pickups, sounds great and your amp certainly would compliment it. I run through a Fender Deluxe Reverb and it simply shimmers.
Enjoy it!

I'm not usually a big fan of the sunburst Gretsches, but that one is beautiful. Congrats. Let us know how the Compton works out.

Thanks. Yeah, it is a bit unique, compared to most of the others I've seen. The black edge of the burst is thinner, which lets the plain maple show through nicely. My wife commented on how nice the guitar looks (she knows virtually nothing about the sonic properties of my gear), which helped ease the blow of my trading one of her favorite guitars (strangely, a Crafter SA-QMOS, which had a "pretty" quilted maple top) for this one.

I'm really excited about the Compton. Wayne has already impressed me with his fast responses and professionalism. Wish there were more dealers like him out there.
