Thinking of getting those Grover Imperial tuners for my 5120. Any body have these? Love the look of them. Wondering if i'll have to ream the existing holes. Love to hear some pros and cons from you GTers! Pretty good deal on Darren Riley's.

I put a set on my Epiphone and I really like the look and feel of them although they do get easily knocked out of tune in transport.

Hmmm because of the wider paddles i wonder?

The only con I know is, if you use one of those little plastic whirligigs to put on new strings -- it doesn't want to fit over those big Imperial pegs. I had to search around and find a special JUMBO whirligig.

They look awsome on a Falcon/Phoenix. with that big V headstock and vertical logo. And, they look awful on just about anything else. I hate seening them on Jets and 5120's/6120's. The headstock doesn't have the gravitas to carry them off. They look like croocked teeth in a small head.....

I would suggesr you get some Sperzels or somthing else. Soemthing to suit that lovely 5120. Just my 2p worth.

Yes. It doesn't take much to turn them. I like the look of them on my Epi and thought they looked fine on my 6122.

Yea, I agree with you Marlin. After a bit more research last night looking at pics I did see a few on 5120's and they looked a bit crooked. Could it be poor installation? I think they look pretty great on G-Whiz's Jet , and GentleBen's Guitars. I guess it would be hard to mess it up if the 2 screw holes line up. I don't think I have the courage to ream the existing holes my self, But I do know a great local luthier whom I trust. I don't know. Still thinking about making the purchase. Thanks for the tips and pics though dudes!! Also, glad to see you're back at the Triple Jet G-Whiz! That Copper looks pretty good.

You know how some tuners are as sloppy as a ducks guts? That's not the case here - both the Grover Imperials and Sperzel Trim-Loks on my guitars are really nice - they just feel great and work very precisely. However I do tend to knock the Grovers out of tune sometimes putting the guitar back in the case (yeah I need to be more careful, I know). So, both types of tuners work well - the decision comes down to aesthetics...

The look great on the Epi - they suit that large headstock.

Now, you've got me interested in those Sperzels. I notice reviews claim they hold tune better on a tremolo guitar. Hmmmmm.

You are right Penguin, it all comes down to aesthetics. Aesthetically they are effin beautiful!!! I think my mind is made up. Birthday is in a few weeks, and the lady friend wants to know what I want. I think this is it!! Pics if it goes through!!
