I'm looking into putting a gold bigsby on a Epiphone Zephyr Blues Deluxe which is the EPI version of the old Gibson ES-5's. It has a big 17 inch wide deep body archtop. I can't figure out if I need a B-6 like the gretsch hollow bodies all use or a B-7 like I have on my ES-137. The Blues Deluxe and Gibson ES-5 are the same size body as a Gibson L-5 they just aren't carved and solid wood. Any help would be greatly appreciated the bigsby site wasn't much help.

B6 for the deep hollows
B7 for semis and solid body

the tension bar on the B7 is gonna put too much pressure on the floating bridge

I thought some of it depends on the neck angle too though?? I had Jim Triggs make me a Gibson ES-5 copy years ago which is pretty much the same size as this Epi and he had to use a B7 because of the neck angle and the height of the strings before the bridge? I may just buy a B7 and a B6 and try both on it and sell the one that doesn't work. I would prefer the B6 all day long!!

Having installed at least 15 Bigsbys over the years on different guitars. B6 is the way best way to go. Your angle will be just fine. You won't screw up the guitar with some screw holes in the top and the B6 will work very nicely.
