My lovely BFPR is too loud for the job; zero breakup until 6 1/2. On the advice of The Two Wise Men, I've ordered THD Yellow Jackets . Oughta knock her down to 20 watts. Hey! EL84, Class A, 3 lbs per watt...it's a VOX!!!

Keep us posted. I was thinking of trying them on my Reverend Kingsnake. The 6L6 sound just doesn't do it for me anymore.

You won't get much volume attenuation with yellow jackets. MAYBE, and I mean maybe a 3db difference. Which is the minimum volume difference that the human ear can easily discern as being different.

If you want to half the volume you'll need an attenuator. The weber mass series that have a moving speaker motor are less atifact-y than the resistor grids.

The watt to volume relationship is not a one to one ratio. You need to double the output wattage to get a 3db change is volume.

I've used the yellow jackets. Awesome idea. But in practice they are not ideal. They will Very much change your amps feel and sound. Some amps take the yjackets better than others.....but they all sounded a bit grainy to me.....ive got a pair sitting in a drawer that I should sell.
