bzone February 22nd, 2012, 11:17 PM Hi All,
Would this be the proper place to post photos of an instrument I have to find out it's age and its value?
Thanks for your time.
Tony65x55 February 22nd, 2012, 11:22 PM It sure is. Welcome to Gretsch Talk.
themick February 23rd, 2012, 06:46 AM Definitely. Also, make sure to let us know of any markings on the guitar; serial number, etc...
araT February 23rd, 2012, 10:01 AM Welcome aboard bzone! looking forward to seeing what you've got :D
audept February 23rd, 2012, 04:01 PM Hi bzone, welcome to the forum! Let's see the photos.
bzone February 26th, 2012, 01:20 PM Thank you for your help. Here are the images.
Wayne Gretschzky February 26th, 2012, 03:15 PM Wow... lovely Synchromatic model 100. It's pre-war, circa '41/42. The post-war version of this model (less ornate) used the model 115 to designate the cream-colored finish option. I'm not aware that this was the case for these pre-war examples. These are relatively rare, as the war disrupted them and most of the Gretsch models soon there-after. I just love the tortoise binding on these. There was one on Ebay just recently, but it was natural finished. It was only a few serial numbers away from yours. The seller was trying to get $1900 for it, but received no bids. It was in similarly great condition, but yours being the cream-colored finish is a little better in my opinion.

So, bzone, what this means is that you have two options:
1) you have a wonderful vintage instrument to enjoy, or...
2) Cha-ching!
audept February 26th, 2012, 05:11 PM That is so beautiful!
drmilktruck February 26th, 2012, 05:47 PM Has it been refinned? It looks awfully shiny. Beautiful guitars. I have one in non-playable condition from a little later.
bzone February 26th, 2012, 11:55 PM No it's original. Was my fathers he told me he bought it prior to leaving for the war. I've had it all these years. This is the original case that came with it as well. It is just always been polished and kept clean. Still plays well.
JC higgy February 27th, 2012, 02:15 PM A beaut, and in such great condition too!
Skev February 27th, 2012, 11:18 PM Really a beatiful lady!!
Dylanphile February 28th, 2012, 12:56 AM Gotta love those old serial numbers. Just a few digits. Kinda like old phone numbers.
