Hang in there, Joe. Sounds like a "when it rains it pours" syndrome. You just gotta keep doing the best you can and with some luck, you'll get things moving in a better direction.

I always tell my boys when they lost a girl friend, that there are 49 other States full of girls. But life would be harder if you didn't have a music outlet, where you can make sound and connect with it. Every day is a new day to make sound.

Hey Joe, my old lady ran off with her gymn instructor: how cliched is that? But do you know what, after a very rough patch (I have 3 kids with her), I met someone who made my life much better and is a much nicer person (and she is 8 years younger and much better looking ;) ). So hang in there and keep really positive and pour all your heartache and troubles into your playing and art. Plus you get to know who your REAL friends are when you need them...

I've been lucky enough to have all the same friends in my group since Grade 3. Not many people can say that, But it took time to find the right girl . I didn't find the perfect girl for me till I was 33yrs old. I'm now 37. We now just bought a house together and it's a new build and will be finished in Sept. Cant wait to move in. :D

Life is circular Joe. Things go around. Your life will too, it's just a phase that will only last a short while. Don't sweat the girl. There are millions of other ones out there that will appreciate you more and won't walk out. You'll get a better one. It always works that way.

Take that pretty Gretsch and go write some songs. And don't sell it. A good guitar can see you through times of no money better than money can see you through times without a good guitar. Right now, you need each other.

It's funny...I knew a few Stray Cats songs and some Brian Setzer songs...but man..they really come alive when played on the Gretsch. I also didn't realize how incredible touch or dynamics are with the hollowbody. Playing and learning Sleepwalk has been a blast. I was a metal guy for a while but always secretly wanted to play all those great Gretsch songs. It's defintely been fun.

My 6120 is exactly the same as yours and mine is awesome too. It isn't all hollowbodies that feel like that, it's a Gretsch thing. We all understand exactly what you mean. I find the guitar I am playing has a direct correlation to the type of music coming out of me and I don't think it's a head thing. I love lots of guitars but a Gretsch is something special.

Totally agree Tony. When I pick up my Les Paul its like I instictively play a more Social Distortion stlye/punk sound. I am a little afraid as this being my first hollowbody I found myself treating it like a fragile baby, but then I see videos of Setzer rocking out hard with it.

Lots of people rocking out hard with a Gretsch. Rock n' roll was born with a Gretsch in the family. It was only after the Hendrix/Clapton/Page guitar god thing that Gretsch sales declined. But there were always closet Gretsch players like Townsend, Bachman and Malcolm Young, people that didn't swim with the crowd and knew a great sound when they heard it.

They aren't built like a Tele but give them a little care and they last a lifetime of rockin'.

I had my 6120 set up before I picked it up and I already feel like it needs another. Not buzzing bad..not at all through an amp, but i feel like the high E string isnt ringing out like it did when I first picked her up. I might just be paranoid, but the strings are new. Any help or input from you fine people would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the rough patch, but at least you've still got the guitar, and isn't that what guitars are for? Getting girls? If it weren't for my Gretsch i would have never met my current girlfriend.

Most guitars do seem to behave a lot like a woman/man (delete as appropriate ;) ) in as much as they have moods and react to how you're feeling too.

My Tele, being a simple but beautiful plank is pretty stable and mostly feels the same every time I play her. Which might be why it's often my favourite. Pretty much all the others have days when they feel and sound great and days where no matter what I do, it just doesn't feel right.

Anyway, I guess the short version is that guitars change and react to environment. If it's been like this for a while, get it back to the tech and have it tweaked back to perfection. If it's only been a day or two, perhaps hang fire and see if it's a change or a mood.

Thanks so much dazz. I guess I might be paranoid because the first one I ordered had a bit of a wonky neck. But with this one the tech looked at it a week ago when i got it and he said the neck was good. Again I'm probably paranoid because it is such a beautiful instrument. I keep the humidification system in it and wipe her down after each use.

It is a little intimidating at first going to a hollow body, it feels so delicate compared to a solid body guitar. I went from a telecaster to an electromatic. The tele felt like i could have dropped it off the roof and it would have been fine. The electromatic at first seemed like glass in my hands.

Here i am years later and my Gretsch is still working fine. At one point due to some odd circumstances i was without a case or even a gig bag and i still gigged weekly. It rode in the passenger seat of my truck, got leaned against a wall on stage, knocked over once or twice. I've been crashed into by drunken mosh pits, crashed into by drunken singer, had beer spilled on it, it's even been hit by a low hanging ceiling fan. The only thing that ever broke was the input jack. Whatever you do don't sit on a couch with a cord plugged in!

So while they may be a bit more delicate than a solid body, don't fret so much you forget to enjoy it.

I agree lats..my right side was the last bit of room I had because the left hurt so bad. But I'm covered from my throat down and hand and fingertips too and i got tired of looking at that one blank patch...so.....G6120 down the ribs.
