Went to TV's site and he has the info on all his other pickups. Nothing on the T-Armond though?

Awesome Tavo, the bridge is what I'm looking at. 11.5 is much hotter than the stock at 8.2. My understanding is this would be louder, fatter with earlier breakup but less high end(or sparkle)??

Is that why he suggests 1meg pots?

Thanks :)

The bridge is only hot than stock dynas because Tvjones is correcting the "problem" with the stock dynas which is a loss in comparative output switching from neck to bridge.
I grew up with original DeArmonds so my ears poops on the stock dynas and sez "yea" on the T-armonds.

I know that early gretsch guitars had 1meg pots for the dynas but thats just too bright to me. I use CTS500K log pots and oil n paper .02 tone caps or jupiter tone caps depending on the guitar. I also run a .001 cap on the wiper of the vol pot.

I know these were meant for Gretsch guitars but man oh man these are my favorite telecaster pickups hands down. I actually drop the bridge side down a bit on the tele mostly because I have stainless steel barrel saddles.

Can you explain how you wire the .001 to the wiper, and why?

Cheers

Cheers. vlome kit for the master is usually comprised of a 150k resistor and .001uf cap. this placed in parallel across lugs 3 and 2 (1 being ground). i dont really like the resistor so i use just the cap and as you turn the master volume down the higher end of the signal stays in

Oy, I was afraid of that. Treble bleed :(
Now if someone can make a 500k pot with roll off like a 250k.......

I used 1 meg pots on my Tele loaded with TArmonds. they were recommended by Tom himself. It sounds great to me, not as bright and metallic as a standard Tele, but still retaining that tele sound in the tone Delicious neck pickup tone.

I bet that neck pup sounds great with the 1meg. It's just that I spent 3 days fighting 500k pots to get a nice gradual taper like a 250k, finally ripping it out. I'm going to order a bridge T-Armond regardless as I'd bet they'll sound amazing no matter what pot you hook it up to ;)

Way out.

I'm using an Omega Amps modded Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Non master volume, three channels (Fender blackface, Marshall Plexi & Dumble) - sounds mega. With the Billy Brain on, I get great break up on my cleans at practice levels (but only with an attenuator on, it's flippin' loud). I adore this amp, it's the amp i use most of the time.

I frequently run it in stereo with a Traynor YCS90 (yes, master volume). It's still quite new, and not fully played in, so a bit bright with the Celestion G12 Century Vintage Neodymium speakers, but hugely flexible in tone. I may need to break out the Febreze.

I also have a modded Laney VC30, I use this quite a bit as well. Nice amp, but a bit noisy. I'm awiting for an upgrade transformer from Mercury Magnetics, that'll sort it.

In the wings, on loan to a friend, I have a Line 6 Flextone 3. It's fun to noodle with (on Fender clean settings), but not really my thing.

I have some other bits, a few little practice amps (my favourite of which is my Vox DA5 with a Webder 8" Alnico blue)

But, I mostly use the Fender HRD. And the Tele (a JA90) sounds great through it with the T-Armonds. I have good Orange drop caps in there too, and the best pots I could find. I put the 1 meg pots in, cos TVJ said to do it. I might rewire, and try the Tavo method at a later date. But for the moment, I'm happy.

The next amp I get will be made by some beardy bloke in California. I think it's called a Blondshell.

Paul ;)
