Les Paul cap placement

I have seen wiring diagrams that have the capacitor going between the tone and volume pots, which seems like the normal way it's done.

however I have also seen then where the capacitor is simply placed between the tab on the tone pot and the base of the pot as a ground, like this:

and

does it matter which one is used? how would that effect tone?

Thanks,

The gibson site schematics show it both ways - the modern schematic (http://www.gibson.com/Files/schematics/lpdswiring.gif) shows it going to the ground (the back of the tone pot), and the 1954 schematic (http://www.gibson.com/Files/schematics/lespaul2.gif) they have shows it between the vol & tone... I've wired them up both ways & never really noticed a difference in tone, so I imagine if there is one it's negligible.. one of the electronic gurus here (I'm looking at you Michiel!) may be able to shed more light.

Good luck with the modding :D
