I have:
Boss Chorus
Boss Tuner
Boss Digital Reverb
Route 66 Distortion/Compressor
Volume Pedal

Now I'm looking to get a delay but I'm not quite sure what roger between the Boss DD7, Deluxe Memory Man, or a Carbon Copy.
Share what you have, pics, advice, details, anything.

Tara, where did ya go to make this 'GuitarGeeked' Rig? Cheers :)

And to answer the OP's question, I run these in this order :)

Korg Pitchblack
Cool Cat Drive V1 (OCD Clone)
MXR Carbon Copy

Probably gonna get a Nocturne Atomic Brain in the future and then I'm probably done!

I went through the site, found most of my pedals, made the the stuff that didn't exist (the Dual Terror & Turbo Tuner) and whacked it all together in photoshop one day when I was bored at work :) ..Sorry I can't provide an easier solution!

They're AMAZING lil powerhouses, I adore mine, they're a lot like a 'rockier' AC30 in my opinion, great cleans and overdrive tones :) I can't recommend them enough!

Go take one for a spin & let me know what you think!

This is my latest set-up. I decided to take pedals off that I'm not using as much. Just to keep it cleaner. May sell some soon. Really like the Tri Pie 70 pedal from Wren and Cuff. Will do a review when I play with it a bit more.

1 Korg -Tuner
2 MXR-Stereo Chorus
3 Lovepedal-Fuse
4 Lovepedal-Les Lius
5Wren and Kuff-Tri Pie 70
6 Fulltone-Supa-Trem
7 Exotic Effects-Ep3 Boost
8 Boss-DD20 Delay
9 Voodoo Labs-Power 2 Plus
10 Voodoo Labs-Iso 5

Haven't been out with my board for awhile so it's the first setup without my Isp Decimator.

Right now, here's lineup:

Top row, L to R: MXR Overdrive, Biyang Tri-Reverb, Boss Trem, Danelectro Back Talk, Carl Martin Red Repeat, Homemade "Toggle" Box.

Bottom Row, L to R: Fulltone Plimsoul, Boss Super Overdrive, Hip Kitty Cream Distortion, Hip Kitty Glaze Volume Boost, Heavy Electronics Radio Havana, Janglebox JB-1, Boss TU-2 Tuner.

I have a Cats-Eye Mutha Fuzz that's going out for repair, and once that's back, it's going back on the board. I might pick up a used Boss Chorus I saw for $39.

Then, I'm out of real estate.

Last major change before going on hiatus was ditching the complex pedalboard for a Boss GT-10. I still use the Weeping Demon wah and get my main clean and dirty tones from the 6505. It's not perfect, but it does the job with a lot less potential for problems.

I built this one about a year ago. The frame is a PedalTrain Pro - it came with a flight case.

The cables are homemade octopi for the FX loop and the wall warts.

The main path is: Guitar > Switch Blade (polytune on B channel) > Peppermint Fuzz > Beano Boost > G-Lab Wah Pad/Keeley Crybaby > TC Nova Dynamics Compressor (side A) > Big Muff > Keeley RAT > Analogman Maxon OD-9 > Boss GE-7 > AC30CC2X In.

The FX loop is: AC30CC2X FX Out > TC Nova Dynamics Noise Gate (side B) > Digitech Whammy > TC Nova Modulator > TC Nova Repeater > AC30CC2X FX In.

I ditched the Signa drive for a Butah and run it before going into the switching section of the loops. The A/B is replaced with a three channel looper with a A/B switch built in like in the drawn picture.

The advantage with this board is Its always in stereo. The phaser when selected is ping ponged back and forth panning from AC30 to Super. The Delay sends repeats to the Super and the original signal to the Vox. When no delay chorus or phase is used I run the Super clean with reverb and the Vox dirty.

I built this board to mount my mic stand. You see it standing up. I just slide it over a plumbing shaft that is like 4" tall and slide a little pin in to keep in place.

No velcro. I just got longer screws that go stright through the mounting board into the pedals existing holes. I hinged the boards so when I remove a slide pin I can lift or flip the bord up to get to the back side easy. I wired up my power conditioner under the DMM and installed a plug and a couple of mounted jacks to plug the stereo sides into.

My Throbak boost is at the end of the chain. It is always on and used to drive the input to the amp, so that no matter which pedals I have switched on at any time, the amp is seeing a constant impedance. I can also adjust the output level of the boost to suit different amp inputs.

No pics, but my current line-ip:

Korg Pitchblack tuner > homemade Dnyacomp/Janglebox clone (used as a booster) > Barber 1/2 Gainer (along with the Barber LTD: best low-gain OD EVER!!!) > homemade EA tremolo > George Dennis volume pedal > homemade Rebote delay (for slapback echo)

Thinkign about some changes - since I rarely ever dial up the compression, I want to replace my Dynacomp/Janglebox compressor with a proper booster - I really love the old Zoom PowerDrive PD01 as a "fattening" booster, that one will work great with my Hilotron-equipped Cabronita-style Tele; or else I might use my homemade pedal that combines a Nobels ODR-1 clone and a modded AMZ mini-booster.
And I also want to replace the EA tremolo (which sounds great, but distorts with higher output pickups like the GFS NYIIs in my Pro Jet, and which has an oscillator that doesn't always start 100% reliably when you hit the switch) with a Tremulus Lune clone I'm about to built (with two switchable trem speeds...).
Oh, and I might replace the Rebote delay with a Marshall Echohead (love the tape delay setting on that one for slapbakc!)

BTW, while not in the signal chain, I also have a double footswitch on my board - for switching reverb/trem when playing with my homemade Princeton Reverb clone, or for switching channels when playing my German-made Bioogie Mk. I/II clone...

What are some good brands for pedals?

For OD & boost purposes: Barber Electronics - solid build quality, great tone (their LTD is by far the best overdrive pedal for low gain tones EVER, and I've literally tried dozens...) - and very reasonable prizes for a "boutique" company!

What are some good brands for pedals?

Another poster mentioned Boss pedals, and they're built like tanks, and will get the job done, but there are literally hundreds if not more, pedalmakers out there today. I have found that it pays to dig deeper into the world of boutique stompboxes. With so many people using Boss pedals (and I'm one of them, albeit sparingly), I would think that anyone trying to define his or her own sound, would do it with pedals that are out of the oridinary, and not just something common that everyone else uses.

I tried some Boss pedals (Chorus Ensemble, a few others) out a few days ago at GC, and they were OK, but again, generally too common for my tastes. I like out of the ordinary stuff for the most part, although my Boss Super Overdrive is great, and I use it all the time.

Go to www.pedalgeek.com, or www.customguitargear.com, and check out the selection. You'll be amazed.

No pic, but also on a Pedaltrain (great product!). Flow goes:
Wireless receiver>Radial Dragster (fools the chain into thinking its loaded by pickups and cord)>Xotic EP Booster (mimics front end of a tube Echoplex, warms and fattens and converts low-impedance/buffers)>Ernie Ball volume> EB tuner out to Peterson Strobostomp>Diamond optical compressor>Wampler SLOstortion with indie clean boost>Wampler Paisley Drive> Option 5 Destination Rotation Leslie sim>front end input of amp>effects send to Diamond Memory Lane Junior (fantastic delay!)>back to effects return of amp>serious tone.
It all fits in the Pedaltrain hardcase with the rest of my cabling and everything else I need except a pesky pair of guitar stands. Double gigbag on back, combo amp in one hand, one trip in and out.

I have a carbon copy that I'm currently waiting on returning to me. It quit working. The lights would come on, but no effect. Before it went out on me, it would produce a subtle squeal from time to time. Took me awhile to isolate, but found it was the pedal. Also does not have stereo out. FWIW.

I really like it. It doesn't do chop but it has a lot of range. Much like an old school amp trem. Germanium components give it a really warm sound and the internal volume level allows it to even work as a clean boost. Simple and effective, for me. Also, it's only $100 brand new and made in USA.

I think Boss makes some great pedals. My only concern and why I dont have any anymore is that with my gear, they were pretty noisey. Even when not engaged you could plug into the amp direct, listen, then put a boss in between without engaging and it would compress the signal and dull some of the harmonics. I dont keep any pedal that does that in my signal, even in a loop selector. I sure liked my LS-2, very versitle pedal.

Older Fulltone FD2, Nobels Trem, Factory mod Mr.Echo that now has

White George L cables keep it looking clean against the white shelf wire.

Here's a couple shots of mine. Wire shelving from Home Despot.
Older Fulltone FD2, Nobels Trem, Factory mod Mr.Echo that now has
independent boost & echo. Daisy chain power via wall wart.
White George L cables keep it looking clean against the white shelf wire.

Wanted something small and not a lot of additional weight.
Found a Gator bag that's just the right size for this and some extras.

Too cool. I like everything about it down to the dishrack board. With respect to the SIB Mr. E, did you have someone mod it to put an independent, clean boost in where the "slam" or whatever control was? Smart. Is the delay or boost first in line, and how do you like it before your dirt?

I had it modded at SiB. It had a volume knob that provided boost but it wasn't independent from the echo effect. The bypass switch takes the whole pedal in or out. The "Slam" switch now just turns the echo on/off. No more slam feature.

The reason it's first in line dates back to when I first got it. It's from the very first run and it was too easy to overload the input so I put it first. Now it's there out of habit even though the input was upgraded when the mod was done. I guess I should try it downstream where most folks have it, but I dig the sounds I get now with the boost from Mr. Echo hitting everything else hard.

Been out and about today. I currently own a homemade rig not worth mentioning. It's a bulky think that doesn't have a lid on it so transport is a b#^&*.

Since I do like building stuff without going broke on a product like a pedaltrain that's a lot more expensive in these parts, I went over to a cheap-ass flightcase outlet and found the holy grail in pedalboard bases:

http://www.licht-geluid.nl/shop/images%5CProduct%5Clarge%5C8517_2_.jpg

http://www.licht-geluid.nl/shop/images%5CProduct%5Clarge%5C8517_4_.jpg

This is a flightcase intended for a light-mixing console, cost me less than the materials for building my current board.. €45,- The lid is detachable, the front has a low profile and I intend to make a power and cable patchbay behind the lid on the back.

Gonna be DIY-ing for a while (my business is real busy lately), but when it's finished I'll post the results.

[edit] Never mind, I followed the breadcrumbs home. http://www.licht-geluid.nl/shop/p-8517-dap-flightcase-voor-showmaster-24.aspx
If big enough I might have to ditch my Gorm boards.
[edit] Which I solely use to keep 'm off the floor. I carry my pedals in 2 padded laptopcases but every time I open one up I find another scratch or dent, on one of the pedals.

If it's too small you should check out it's big brother, intended for the Showmaster 48 unit (about 75cm wide or so).

Awesome, and the SM48 is only €55! I think I'll get both, and make the SM24 a Grab&Go board. My Gorm boards will make a nice tray for the interior.

Nice stuff huh? I'was actually walking in there with €180,- hoping i'd find a tiny flightcase. Ended up spending less than €50,- L.O.L!

They are offcourse Chinese quality, but a lightmixer is about 3 times heavyer than a bunch of effectpedals, so it's good enough.

Some years ago I looked into building my own. Buying the profiles and stuff for a SM48 sized board would have amounted to over €100. I mean, how do they do it?! Nice lightweight too. <7Kg for the SM48.

Let me know what you're going to do with the interior. I need some good ideas haha!

Hey I have a question for you! You ever try the Pan/trem pedal in stereo?

Most panning effects just switch back and forth ping pong on off on off. I'm looking for somehting that starts turning down and then up gradually from amp to amp. So how's that little behringer do?

Yes, I have, and it works great! I tell ya, I was impressed with this inexpensive Behringer trem pedal ($28 w/ shpg). I ordered it just to see what it would do, and I've kept it on my board..

The blinking rate on the LED is great to have (I don't think the Boss tremolo pedal has this), and the panning effect is very impressive.

If that's what you're looking for, give it a try and you'll see what I mean. You won't be out much if it's not for you..

I'm not a Behringer fan boi by any means, because I'm not really impressed with most of their stuff, but this TP300 Ultra Tremolo/Pan is a winner.

I also like their compressor/sustainer pedal better than the Boss one. Had the Boss, liked this Behringer one better, and took the Boss back.. Too noisy. That being said, I have quite a few Boss pedals, which I like a lot.

question!
i'm making a new pedalboard and i'm planning on changing from double sided tape to velcro for fixing the pedals
and i was wondering, which side of the velcro goes on the pedals and which side on the board?

pro tip: the "big boys" use something called Dual Lock to secure pedals to boards.

Simple and cheap. The green pedal is a general guitar gadgets ts808 clone, and the white pedal is homemade from a purchased pcb. The black pedal is a tuner. Sometimes there's a modded crybaby. Most of this board is scraps from the basement. I did have to buy a welcome mat to cover the plywood....fits into a grocery bag and is powered by a wall wart and and a daisy chain.

Amp stands. This amp was bought because I was in desparate need of an amp, couldn't afford that amp that I wanted and is a 2X12. Hopefully someday this will just be a cabinet with a tube head sitting on it....But I gotta say, I really like some of the sounds I can get from this thing....

Well, It's been some time but here she goes..

For the people that didn't catch this, I found a cheap ass flightcase that is designed for a lightmixer and converted it to:

http://www.mijnwebwinkel.nl/winkel/dhzcartools/images/pedalen2a.jpg

http://www.mijnwebwinkel.nl/winkel/dhzcartools/images/pedalen1a.jpg

As you can see this is the mockup with no electronics or patchcables installed yet. I just dumped some pedals in there, so this lineup is not final in any way (and most of my other pedals where @ the rehearsal basement).

Then I realised it was still in between Christmas and the year 2012, and I accidentally happend to stumble across a scheet of 7 ply voidfree Finnish pine.. Hmmmm.. Still got some of that artificial leather...

http://www.mijnwebwinkel.nl/winkel/dhzcartools/images/1x121a.jpg

So.. That's why I disappeared for a while:D

I now have a fully portable setup: One flightcases (pedalcase), one 1X12 cabinet, one (very small) amp head and one guitar. Enough to win from an average drummer and it al fits in the boot of a small European sedan (eventhough I own a quite large Swedish sedan)..

That's all folks.

Yeah it's 7 ply void free Finnish pine, 18mm thick. For my 2X12 I used 20mm birch ply, that's a more musical wood but it's heavy as sh*t.

First impression is that the pine has a slightly brighter sound to it, so with the Gretsch it actually sounds better then birch (it's a closed back cab). I used an Eminence Wizard speaker, wich has a dark bottom and bright top end (average mids). The combination speaker+cab is perfect, but the speaker needs a lot of playing in (it's real stiff out of the box).

homemade board. anvil briefcase. planet waves tru-strobe tuner, tech 21 comptortion, dd-2, dd-3. planet waves patch cables and one spot power. divine noise cables to and from the board. all attached with dual-lock. power cables zip-tied. rubber feet on the bottom.

i got the comptortion from a friend and its surprising there isnt more fanfare around these pedals. they are discontinued and i wouldnt be the least bit surprised if they werent more of a cult classic a little down the road. sounds fantastic with great options and flexibility.

Sorry... Mostly-

I used to have a tuner and 16 Whirlwind A/B boxes. I kept getting some unacceptable hum from my rig, which I blamed on poor wiring in my old building.

So, I got an E-H HumDebugger and that helped some. But, being a perfectionist, I persisted in problem-solving and my next consideration was perhaps it might be the cables I used to link everything, so I got rid of all of them.

That completely solved all my trouble with buzz and hum, and I don't need to include my tuner on the board any more. Problem solved!

My dog, Salty has endorsed this setup.

I'm thinking that it won't be long before Premier Guitar will send Rebecca Dirks over to my place to do a feature on me. I know they're always looking for innovations!

I'll let you know when PG posts my interview up on youtube.
