It improved the guitar. snoglobe October 13th, 2011, 09:05 AM ;)brass is nice! +1 That's what I did. bluenote23 October 13th, 2011, 09:09 AM If you have a stock G6119-1962HT, then you have a brass Gretsch bar bridge in there already. I've got all kinds of bridges including two Compton Titaniums. If you find that you can't get your action low enough for your taste, then maybe a radius matched Compton will be an improvement (the bar on my G6119-1962 looks to be around 18 to 20 inch radius) but I think any tonal improvement will be from subtle to unnoticeable. I think Wayne Comptons bridges are fine replacements for a lot of the substandard fare found on many, especially import, guitars. If you find Synchromatics too fiddly, or Space Controls too uncomfortable, then Comptons are good replacements for these too. But the bridge you have on your guitar is pretty good as it is. big kenny October 13th, 2011, 10:55 AM if you have a stock g6119-1962ht, then you have a brass gretsch bar bridge in there already. Well worth the $ spent. No disrespect intended, just different results bluenote23 October 13th, 2011, 11:32 AM No offense taken. Tone tends to be avery subjective thing with a lot of varied parameters that can affect our reactions. The basis of my findings (which quite frankly run against common wisdom) come from a series of recorded tests I did with a 1997 Red Sparkle Jet with ceramic Filtertrons, a 2005 Gold Sparkle Jet with HS Filtertrons and a 2008 White Falcon with HS Filtertrons. I was really trying to see how 'inferior' the ceramic Filtertrons were. I did a series of recordings using Space Controls, a Synchrosonic, Comptons and stock Gretsch Rocking Bar bridges. I really found very little sonic difference between these high quality bridges. In the end, my Red Sparkle Jet with a bar bridge and my Gold Sparkle Jet with a chambered Ti Compton sound pretty much the same. jack m October 13th, 2011, 11:45 AM Thank you all very much |
