SURF 90 install Pots and Cap Value?

Finally I decided on pickups for my Carlo Roballi RB1955! I have a set of Surf 90 ‘s in my cart (after a long debate with myself on using a Mean 90 in the neck) and I’m thinking before I order I should consider changing the pots and cap. It seems like 250 pots and a 22 cap are the way to go. Anyone have advice\experience?

BTW, thanks to those who posted sound clips of various pickups!

500 k pots.
Some would use 1 meg pots.

Though much to do with sound is subjective, 250k pots might cut too much of the guts out of a dyna-type pickup (which the Surf 90 is intended to be despite the name) for some ears.

Thanks for the advice. I just ordered the Surfs. I was thinking single coil 250. Maybe I'll just install them with the pots and cap that is in it now.

One-meg pots would be mighty bright, IMO. 500k pots work great; 250k would lose some of the sparkle, which is what you bought these pickups for in the first place :)

Sounds fantastic. I know how to work a guitar so it is a stellar player as well.

Sounds fantastic. I really know how to work a guitar so it is a stellar player as well.

Not to change the subject, but holy cow, where'd ya get that pickguard? I'm in lust with your guitar

I made it up myself following an M.O. I've been using for years.
Clear acrylic sheet from Home Depot:

The image was worked in a photo program to 11x17 then taken on a flash drive to Office Depot for an 11x17 color print. About a buck.

Applied with Duro spray contact cement to show through from the back.

The guitar is shielded and star-grounded. The guard received a layer of aluminum foil (again, spray contact cement) after the image was applied.
