Annie or Country Club?

So I'm looking into saving up for either the jaguar tan Anniversary 6118 or the bamboo yellow country club. I have smaller hands, and like playing with a warm crunch at times. From what I understand, the Annie would be better for this, so maybe my question is : Can the country club do that kind of stuff? Is it really big and bulky? Can I switch the single coils for the TV jones (size wise?)

Any info or opinions appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

I don't know about the necks, but my Caddy Green CC w/ Filter's can rock. Does whatever I want (except play really high 24th fret squeely notes, which I don't want anyway) from Jazz to country to rock. Couldn't recommend one highly enough.

Nice round neck. Not too big. Wide body, not too thick. Love it.

Putting Filter's on the yeller one would take some mods.

The country clubs are pretty big guitars. I love 'em for exactly that reason.
So judging from what you say about size, you might be better off with the Annie, IMHO.

Dynasonics and filtertrons are quite different beasts though.
Try find an opportunity to play either one (or similar guitars for that matter).

You can however play pretty much any style on either guitar.

BTW, I do believe TV sells filtertrons in dynasonic housings if you decide to got for the 'club and mod it.:)

Jag Tan annie is a beast - I adore mine. Has Powertrons, but they can be reigned back with the volume control to get that TV Classic Jangle.

A very versatile guitar, and fantastic to play.

That would be my recomendation, but I've not played the CC. Try to find a shop with these guitars, and play them in person. It's the only way to make an informed decision.

Good luck.

My Annie plays easier than any of my other Gretschs, My Falcon sounds sweeter, my Country gent gets nastier, my '61 single sounds cleaner, my modded 5120's play well with others, and my historic, well, is historic, the least of the beasts (even with tv jones pups)
Glad I could help:)

Thanks guys! That's all really useful information. I would love either of them. For some reason the bamboo yellow CC is just hard to pass up....

I wouldn't let the scale length put you off. The difference at the first fret is less than 1/8" and less for every fret above that. It's not really enough to make much of a difference. I go between 25.5" scale guitars, 24.6" scale guitars and even one 24" scale guitar all the time and never really perceive a difference.

I've used my Club on stage and love it. There's a wide range of sounds available from soothing Jazzy tones one would associate with an L-5 to some Rockin', twangy sounds that would do Duane Eddy proud. I have three Pro Series Gretsch guitars and the Club is quickly becoming my first choice.
