whtfalcon777 September 12th, 2011, 06:11 PM I'm in the market for a compressor pedal,I've thought to look at:
Boss cs-3,or a used cs-2
A few different MXR's
Malekko
Barber
Does anyone suggest one for use with an atomic brain, boss dm-3 and a fender blues dlx?I am using the falcons and the sslvo.....from time to time I have been using a zvex box of rock or an xotic ep booster...
5120mantis September 12th, 2011, 06:19 PM i have a re- issue of the MXR red one (forget its name...) it get's pretty "Beatley " with my casino and Fender amp.
don't know if you're looking for that, i'm not much of a compression user, but i can tell that the pedal lives up to what it is capable of. works nice as a boost for my fulltone OCD
whtfalcon777 September 12th, 2011, 06:25 PM Thanx Mantis...I looked at them online, the custom shop, and a couple of different "red" ones....is yours the old looking "script" version?

digidude101 September 12th, 2011, 07:34 PM I've tried many comps...Keeley, MXR, Orange Squeezers, Electrode. My favorite is the modded Monte Allums Opto plus Boss CS-3.
big kenny September 12th, 2011, 08:27 PM tone press
barge concepts
Carl Martin , all 3 are pretty transparent
-since I bought the Atomic Brain, I seldom use compression
DrumBob September 12th, 2011, 10:44 PM Any of the Janglebox models are great if you're looking for the Roger McGuinn/Searchers/Beatles/Petty sound. Otherwise, I like the Keeley just fine.
bubblyah September 13th, 2011, 12:01 AM Diamond comp gets my vote.:D
falzoony September 13th, 2011, 03:04 AM I've got an Analogman Compressor. Absolutly love it.
whtfalcon777 September 13th, 2011, 04:14 AM Thanx to all for the comments.....I'll be checking on all of these....
I don't always run the atomic, even though the sound works on everything. The box of rock and the xotic pre have great tone also....

Geosh September 13th, 2011, 10:23 AM TC Electronic Nova Dynamics is what I am using now and absolutely love it. I have had the Dyna Comp, and a couple Keeley Compressors, a CS-3, and an old Ross and the TC just fits my sound better than the rest. Plus, you can do a dual channel compressor or a gate as well.
Bob M September 13th, 2011, 10:56 AM I used a MXR Dyna Comp for years. Got my Dyno Brain from Tavo and it's really all I use. Just add reverb, occasional tremelo. Dyna Comp was a good sound for sure, but Tavo's pedal is real slick.
whtfalcon777 September 13th, 2011, 04:20 PM Thanx again for the replies to my quest.....I figured you guys would have a many opinions...maybe I will buy all of 'em and then sort it out....well maybe not...
senojnad September 13th, 2011, 08:01 PM Mybe it's my age.... For me, the Barber Tone Press is #1.

It's not your age! Barber is good!
shakerAU September 14th, 2011, 01:25 AM Before I started using the Line6 M13 I used Visual Sound Pedals,
The Comp 66 pedal was excellent!
According to the website it can sound like the vintage Dyna Comp or Ross Compressor...

vjf1968 September 14th, 2011, 09:52 AM Barber Tone Press. But you better hurry since he is halting production on them.
Papa Dave September 14th, 2011, 09:58 AM I've used an MXR Dyna Comp for years. No reason to change.
tremelo68 September 14th, 2011, 10:17 AM I've got a JangleBox 2, still sealed in the box, that I would sell for $150 or trade. I highly recommend them. I had the original JangleBox and it sounded great. The v2 is supposed to be even quieter as well.
I won the v2 in a raffle and I just don't use compression anymore, so it is sitting there...
PM me if you are interested.
