Would anyone know where I could find a copy of the wiring diagram for a G5120. Unfortunately, gretschguitars.com no longer has it available for display and I really want to check it out.

Thanks

This schematic http://wpc.077d.edgecastcdn.net/00077D/gretsch/support/schematics/wiring/Tone-Pot-Circuit.pdf is the G5120 wiring schematic with the following exceptions.

The wire from each pickup and the wire to/from the 3-way switch to the volume pots are reversed on the G5120 and in most cases the G5120 uses a 0.047uF capacitor rather than the 0.02uF capacitor.

What do you mean reversed?

Reversed as in the wire coming form PU-1 should be on the right pot lead instead of the middle? Same case for PU-2?

Are the pots considered facing down in that schematic?

Thanks:)

In the schematic you're looking at the back of the pots. The G5120 is wired so the pickup wire goes to the left lug rather than the center one as shown in the schematic. If you changed the wiring to be the same as the schematic you will have independent volume controls for each pickup.

If you changed the wiring to be the same as the schematic you will have independent volume controls for each pickup.

Isn't that what I want though? Stock specs list the G5120 as having 1 master volume pot, 2 PU volume pots and 1 tone pot. Wiring as you have suggested delivers what kind of configuration?

Hey, thanks for all your help man by the way:)

As I am going to be installing Filtertrons in my 5120, I found this in the way back machine. I had heard that the wiring in my 5120 was funky, as the volume control for p/u1 also controls p/u2, and so I have always kept everything maxed out and just used the master. the tone control is ineffective as well. Looking at this schematic for 61xx from 2005, could I please get pointed in the direction for an effective treble bleed/tone control that works and volume controls that function as needed. I will be doing a complete new harness, using the cool templete idea from rcboals, and will be upgrading to cts linear pots for the volume pots (500k) and a taper pot for the tone pot. Any other advice/pointer/kick in the pants appreciated. I have read many threads on this so I hope I am leaning in the right direction. I also am looking for a good source for a 4 wire harness wire loom, (not at Angelas)
Also, anyone know of a good place for HS filtertrons? :D
also found a link to Ripley and his humbucker mounts, which I am hoping will work w/my 2006 3 hole chrome bezels.
