Unidentified Bigsby (licensed) Vibrato

Newbie here! Just joined the forum.

I'd always wanted a Gretsch and found this at a garage sale this weekend. Got it for a reasonable price, so can't get too screwed by it, but I can't find any similar guitars...

The guy thought it was about a 2002 guitar. I can't find this Bigsby on any other guitar which is generally not a good thing.

Anybody out there have one or know the model of the Bigsby or the guitar. Unfortunately, the more I look at it, it makes me think it's a knock-off Gretsch. I can't find any other pictures of guitars with headstock logo like this. My best guess is pre-Fender, Korean made....HELP!!!!

Oh yeah, just so you all know, this is how I bought the guitar. I do know how to string a guitar with a Bigsby properly. I don't know what was going on there.

That would be one of them pre-Fender (just under the radar, as Fender took hold of manufacturing and marketing in 2003)Electromatic Jet Pro models, built in Korea for the low-to-mid-price guitars that have become very popular, but which are only supposed to emulate the classic, pro-level Gretches. Note how clever Gretsch is in marketing these lower-level guitars by CALLING them "Jet Pro", even though they are not intended for pro-level players.

Whether the Bigsby is licensed or actually a Bigsby factory unit is only withing my spectrum of speculation because there were so many confusing things going on at Gretsch before Fender came in to straighten things out. Check out this link on The Gretsch Pages (http://gretschpages.com/) for more info on what might be your model: 2504 Jet Pro (http://gretschpages.com/guitars/models/examples/1508/)

That is an early Bigsby Licensed B700. It is an die-cast import model, NOT a sand-cast USA-made Bigsby.

Later (and current) B700's are different in that the Bigsby logo is slanted, and immediately underneath the logo it has the word "licensed" in small raised print.

By the way-- the guitar and the Bigsby are both legitimate... not knockoffs or fake.

Gentleman, thank you!

I've got more info in 2 hours than I did in three days of searching. I should have come to the pro's first off, but I never like hitting forums till I've searched and searched......and searched.

I think I'll clean her up, string it up, and give her a shot.

It actually feels pretty good. Quality wise, just the weight, feel, knobs, look, action doesn't scream cheap-o.

Maybe this is Gretsch number one out of many for me.
