TVJ doesn't recommend splitting the Filters/Classics - he says there isn't enough output to do that. The Supers or Powers are better. OTOH there HiLo Tron is basically a split Filter.

Maybe try a parallel/series wiring? I actually prefer parallel over coiltap for single-coil-y sounds in a HB guitar.

I order them on occasion as split and have my supertron bridge in my spectrasonic as such. It really only sounds cool when the neck and bridge are employed. These pickups are not high output to begin with.
