Cheapo drive pedalGJK1959 July 20th, 2011, 03:38 PM ...ok my Tim won't appear on the scene 'til October, so looking for an inexpensive drive pedal....any recommendations - Bad monkey? Danelectro V1 or V2?? Boss??? ampe July 20th, 2011, 03:58 PM i run a bad monkey and quite like it;) drmilktruck July 20th, 2011, 04:00 PM Danelectro Transparent Overdrive V2 is a good lower priced pedal. Not so cheapo at $50 though WATThouse July 20th, 2011, 04:00 PM The Boss SD-1 can be gotten for $39 at Musician's Friend. It's still one of my all-time favorites at any price. Smooth and mostly sweet spot with no aftertaste. themick July 20th, 2011, 04:23 PM Get an MXR Classic Overdrive. Can't beat what you get for the price. http://www.guitarcenter.com/MXR-CL1-Classic-Overdrive-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-105811939-i1524102.gc WhoJamFan July 20th, 2011, 04:28 PM Bad Monkey, really like how that one sounded with my AC30 TV the Wired Turtle July 20th, 2011, 05:02 PM The evil sinner by danelectro is perfect for ya until the Paul Cochrane pedal comes, just promise you'll cuss at it and mistreat it badly for stealing from Paul's family business. :) I grabbed the V1 for $30 and next to my Timmy its close just more wooly. btw Bad Monkey is a Tubescreamer with better bass EQ, use to be the Juice Box so you can probably grab a juice box even cheaper. http://shop.millerssaxshop.com/images/DOD%20FX51%20juice%20Box.jpg check this out this guys take on it: http://youtu.be/0-IKnxcOf4g here's the gearmanndude's shootout on the V1 vs timmy if you havent seen it ‪Paul Cochrane TIMMY vs Danelectro TOD Transparent Overdrive guitar effects pedal shootout w/ Tele‬‏ - YouTube rcboals July 20th, 2011, 05:57 PM My wife may really be right they do all sound the same. Well anyway pretty close to the same.;) 5120mantis July 20th, 2011, 06:14 PM Get an MXR Classic Overdrive. Can't beat what you get for the price. http://www.guitarcenter.com/MXR-CL1-Classic-Overdrive-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-105811939-i1524102.gc i like this better than the bad monkey. i own both and both do their job well, but i feel the vibe from this one a bit more. megabutter July 20th, 2011, 06:44 PM Lol, I was going to say used tube screamer. Looks like plenty of posts for tube screamer types. ...done beat me to it. TV. What's the story on that Danelectro and family business? TV the Wired Turtle July 20th, 2011, 07:56 PM Lol, I was going to say used tube screamer. Looks like plenty of posts for tube screamer types. ...done beat me to it. TV. What's the story on that Danelectro and family business? Butters, Paul Cochrane has a day job and has been making the TIM pedal for quite some time. Does it at night when he gets home, family man etc. Danelectro took his Timmy, took Frantone ( she is another american independent builder that use to work for EH) peach fuzz and purportedly Mike Fuller of Fulltones OCD and cloned them in china. true bypassed them and gave em a "blue LED" to be hip and current but flat out stole these designs. Word is when their pants were pulled down by a reverse engineer pedal pirate.. they had to make a public apology to Paul and changed up a few things in the pedal, changed the label and created V2. I dont know what reciprocation happened with the others. Its sick. Not like it was some chinese company.. it was Danelectro! |
