OK this is about the 3rd time this has happened to me in the last month;
I'm logged in and replying to a post, After I finish typing my reply and click on the post quick reply button it goes to a page telling me I need to be a member and logged in to submit a reply, so I lose the whole reply I typed and have to log in all over again!
What Gives?

Dunno. But I highly recommend downloading Lazarus: http://lazarus.interclue.com/
It's a form recovery program that is free, safe, and works beautifully. Right now as I type, there's a subtle little ankh icon in the upper right corner. Once downloaded, you will see it too. All you need to do if something goes awry is click it and your typing is restored.

What I do if the reply is long at all. I highlight it and right click copy.
That way if it disappears, I can just paste it back after logging in.

If you do not have a cookie set you will be timed out after 30 mins of inactivity. Typing a post is inactivity because it happens only on your computer and does not interact with our server.
If you are typing a long post hit the "Preview" button every 15 mins or so. That lets the server know that you are still here.
