If you could have only 4 effects pedals + tunerrcboals July 5th, 2011, 08:11 PM If you could have only four effects pedals and a tuner what would you choose? Renegade July 5th, 2011, 09:07 PM Overdrive Analog Delay Chorus Wah barrygnyc July 5th, 2011, 09:22 PM Easy. Right now my pedalboard has: Nocturne Dyno Brain Planet Waves tuner Bad Monkey OD Aqua Puss delay I've got a Box of Rock coming later this week, which I'd swap with the Bad Monkey. That leaves me a spot for a 4th pedal, which I'd leave open until I started to GAS for something, maybe a TIM? I dont use stage tuners, so It would just be some OD/Dist pedal. TV the Wired Turtle July 6th, 2011, 02:00 AM Peterson strobostomp doesnt count :) Brain preamp fulltone Supatrem TIM El Capistan kingdondo July 6th, 2011, 02:22 AM Why do so many of you guys have the Nocturne Dyno Brain. Is it a Gretsch "thing". P.S I am a recent convert having bought a White Falcon last month. Regards Henrytwang July 6th, 2011, 03:05 AM I mainly only use two effects. A Magicstomp with the excellent Charlie Hall EFTP echo software installed and an Alesis 3630 compressor. On rare occasions I also use a Tuna Melt tremolo and a Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal. Regards Because Tv the wired turtle makes them, and while i am not an owner of his pedals (yet), they are built well, and sound fantastic. of the pedals i own now: Fulltone OCD Vox Wah Big muff pi Wampler Faux Echo analog delay ScottyB July 6th, 2011, 07:22 AM That's easy. The four I use now: Boss SD overdrive Boss TR-3 Tremolo MXR Carbon Copy Delay Boss '63 Reverb Of course I'm kind of cheating because my old Morley volume pedal has an excellent chorus so if I had to eliminate one to meet the (4) standard I would ditch the Reverb pedal and go back to the amp and turn the reverb up and down as needed. The pedal is on my board mostly out of convenience. ScottyB Ricochet July 6th, 2011, 07:33 AM Tremolo, EQ, overdrive, reverb paratus July 6th, 2011, 08:00 AM Guitar MXR DynaComp Custom Ernie Ball Volume FX Loop Lovepedal Gen 5 Echo EHX Holy Grail Nano I left out the Fulltone GT-500, it is the pedal I use the least. Ripley1046 July 6th, 2011, 08:23 AM Right now my board consists of Dyno Brain, GFS Tuner (though it just died last weekend), Dano Cool Cat Tremolo, Ibanez DPL10 stereo delay. I also just bought a Zakk Wylde Overdrive from MacStevenXIII that I'm looking forward to trying out. Beyer160 July 6th, 2011, 08:36 AM BYOC Triangle spec Big Muff - '80s RAT - Catalinbread Hyperpak - EH Small Stone I play a '70s Ampeg VT22 which won't break up until it's loud enough to kill small animals, so I need more variety in the dirt department than I would otherwise. If I had an amp that would give me edge of breakup tone at less than WMD volume I'd probably trade the Hyperpak for a tremolo. I dig the Hyperpak and I'd love to try the Formula 5 in the same application, but I don't actually need it, you know? No-name July 6th, 2011, 08:47 AM I don't use any pedals right now. I only own 3: Cry Baby, OCD and Carbon Copy (Delay), but none are in my chain. I do use spring reverb on my amp. dobro July 6th, 2011, 09:43 AM http://www.gretsch-talk.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=763&pictureid=6573 ...And I don't use the Wah anymore.. I have all four effects in my Fender Deluxe VMs Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Overdrive and I keep a Snark tuner on the headstock. So one pedal from the Deluxe is all I need. big kenny July 6th, 2011, 03:21 PM Atomic Brain preamp deville dark echo TIM El Capistan My Name is Nobody July 6th, 2011, 06:35 PM 4 is all I use now, 5 is the most I ever took to any gig. - Fuzz (Monsterpiece NPN) - OD (Boss OD-3) - Trem (EHX Pulsar) - Delay (Boss DD-7) I need a trem because I use a Bassman nowadays, but I might try to swap it for a Super reverb and ditch the Pulsar...and gain reverb ! barrygnyc July 6th, 2011, 08:17 PM Why do so many of you guys have the Nocturne Dyno Brain. Is it a Gretsch "thing". P.S I am a recent convert having bought a White Falcon last month. Regards For me, it started as a "Gretsch thing" but then I found my other guitars sounded "thin" without the Dyno. So, I use it with my Fender Mustang and even with my Schecter. It's become my only "always on" pedal, rwgardless of guitar or style I'm playing. Not sure why. DevilYouKnow July 17th, 2011, 11:02 PM Fuzz, od, trem, delay....seems like the standard fare for more than one guitarist. :) What do you think of that Dr. Sci Trem? Great sound. Very versatile. Don't own one but have played a few and that and the Supa-Trem are my favorites. Give it a try. I'm betting you'll be pleased. GADify July 17th, 2011, 11:57 PM I have two rigs: digital and analog. My digital rig is an AxeFX w/ MFC-101 foot controller, so I don't need anything else except for maybe an expression pedal. For my analog rig ('63 Bassman), I have currently: Turbo Tuner ST200, Dyno Brain, and El Capistan. Right now, I don't need anything else. If I were to add something, maybe a chorus or digital delay and a wah. I thought about a volume pedal, but that thought usually arrises when I'm practicing (and frustrated with) my master volume technique. :) Theo 413 July 18th, 2011, 10:40 AM my current board suits me fine - Boss TU-2 Tuner OG Nocturne Brain Seltzer Barber Small Fry MXR Carbon Copy I picked up a DRRI for my Trem & Verb needs Synchro July 18th, 2011, 02:49 PM Amazingly, this is exactly the number of I use when I actually have a pedalboard. Boss TU-2 (good tuner but worthless in sunlight) Boss FDR-1 Deluxe Reverb O/D pedal (a good pedal for mild overdrive and nice built-in reverb) Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive (a good overall overdrive pedal) Boss FRV-1 Fender Reverb Pedal (almost as good as my tank) MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay (my all-time favorite delay pedal) BarryMClark July 18th, 2011, 02:57 PM Crap... I don't know. I don't like to use pedals. BUT... say I was in a spot where I had to use an amp that didn't do what I wanted and I had to pick pedals.... I'd probably want: Gain pedal of some sort (Either Tavo's stuff or Boss) Delay pedal of some sort (Probably Boss) Reverb pedal of some sort (Probably Boss) Trem pedal of some sort (Probably Boss) ... and probably the Boss TU-2 tuner. ishtar July 18th, 2011, 03:16 PM 4 whirlwind a/b switches.... Well, Ok... Tube screamer, rat, DL-4, and that custom pedal that makes me loOk and sound like a player much better than myself....
