Ok, so I have a G6119SP that just got a set of TV Classics. I swapped the HS Filters that I took out of the Rose into my G5120. So, the Filtertrons sound HUGE in the G5120. I love them now. They sounded a bit mid-heavy in my Rose but for whatever reason they sound great in the G5120.

Now, I am kinda wanting to get some more punch and fullness out of the bridge pickup in my G6119 (w/ TV Classics). I have a TV Powertron in a Tele I built and I am contemplating swapping out the for the TV Classic bridge. Do you think this will get me the extra punch I need? Also, will it be really mid-heavy or muffled sounding compared to the Classic? Also, will a Powertron in the bridge work ok with a Classic in the neck position?

Oh, and FYI I play mostly overdriven sounds (dirty blues, rock, etc.)

Did you try raising the pickups as a whole, by inserting some felt or mousepad foam under them?
Bringing the body of the pickup closer to the strings and lowering the polepieces to compensate, can have a dramatic effect on low/midrange response and punchyness of filtertrons.
I'm guess that will be a major contributer to how they sound in your 5120 right now.

That might explain why I like the HS Filters so much more now. They are quite a bit closer to the strings than they used to be. As for the TV's they are pretty close to TV Jones recommended spec (maybe a little further away. I will try raising them a little more and see how that changes things. I thought bringing them close would increase the high end response a little more, but it's worth a shot!

The powertron bridge is still nice and twangy albeit fat as lard fried doughnuts.. I prefer a classic plus matched to the classic neck. It has noticeable punch and snark in the bridge position which translates to really nice crunch with overdrive while not losing that signature tv classics jangle. Middle position on the guitar is greatly improved and you'll fall in love with the guitar even more.

IF it is of any consolation, I didnt like the stock pwr tron neck pkup in my gretsch spectra sonic so I put a supertron bridge pkup in the neck position.
Now this pkup sounds twice as loud compared to its powertron bridge counterpart until you drop it down twice as far as tvjones spec's. Then it becomes balanced with the bridge with twice as much snap and twang that the stock neck powertron had and middle position is pure vintage jangle.

I replaced TV Powertron neck pup in my PowerJet with a TV Classic...now a 'Gretsch with a growl'.
