Here the story,
I have my G5128 with nice dearmond 2000 and i have my Ibanez with nice t.v. jones classic.
I'm thinking about a swap. t.v.jones in the gretsch and Dearmond in Ibanez.
But i'm not sure .both guitars sound terrific presently so i hesitate.
Need your opinions.
anyone try tvjones in a 5125-6-7-8?
Wich pickup you like the more and why?for what style of music?ect..

Thanks!!

Of those choices niether. Do not like filters or dynas, P90. Best pickup ever made.

If they were mine I'd leave them like they are. Looks like you're covered for many styles and sounds.

The DeArmond 2000 pickups are NOT Dynasonics.

That being said, Filtertrons are great, but Dynasonics are awesome.

My advice - Leave 'em where they are.
DA2000's are nice pups (like Dyna lite)
If anything, upgrade to real Dyna's in one of them.

I have F'tron's, Dyna's and DA2000's in my Gretsches.
Dyna's are my favorite.

I've installed filtertron classic, tv'trons, pwr'trons in electromatics but that guitar would fair so well with T-armonds. those stock thin sounding things are a wrong match for that sexy guitar.
Toms take on classic DeArmonds are really fantastic if you like to play more that just clean finger picking. Very low microphonics and light overdrives are badass sounding with these T-armonds.

Hey MickBones,
I agree with Tavo - you should get rid of those DeArmond 2000s.
I'll gladly take them off your hands for ya!

I've got TV Classics in my 5129, and a 5124 with the 2000s. I missed the 2000s so much after the Classics went in I had to buy another guitar. I do love the Classics in my 5129, and they aren't going anywhere, but the 2000s have their place too in my tone land.

I wouldn't mind trying real Dynas or T-Armonds in there, but for now it's staying stock.

I also have GFS Surf 90s in my 5129, and for the price, and ease (swapping into HB holes) they are amazing pups. Not quite the same as the 2000s, but in the same vein. The Surfs are like a 2000 with some P90 attitude thrown in. They sound Awesome with some grit, but don't lack anything clean either.

I would agree with NJBob, and either leave them alone, or drop in some Dynas or T-Armonds. It's good to have some variety.

By the sound I like both Dynas and FTrons. But Dynas sound unidirected (not bad at all! I like the Cliff Gallup sound very much) as Trons are more versatile.

My personal opinion.

I like both equally, it just depends which tone you're after..
In your case I almost imagine Dynasonics or T-Armonds would be the best choice.. :)

I'd upgrade the 2000's to Dynasonics, keep the filters where they are. Bam, two very versatile guitars.

That's the smart move--I would contend that the Filtertrons wouldn't sound markedly different in the other guitar anyhow.

My sentiment exactly.

I have some silver Dynasonics for sale.....or trade for Gold Dynasonics...

If yo like Eddy, you should get a T-Armond for the bridge and one of Tom's P-90s for the neck!

I wouldn't change a thing in that case. Better is the enemy of best.
