I had a fellow I met at the Greg Koch G-DEC clinic a few weeks ago stop by on Sunday to jam for awhile. He is a younger guy but very into the older country music. We had a really good time picking and he really impressed me with his technique and knowledge of the old tunes.
Anyway, he was playing a Davison guitar, a brand I am totally unfamiliar with. It has EMG designed humbuckers with a very single coil sound to them. Very clear and clean and the quilted maple top in transparent blue is gorgeous. I'm assuming the neck and body are mahogany.
He took a real liking to my 50th anniversay Danelectro and by the end of our jam session he proposed a trade. His Davison for my Dano ( I never really bonded with the Dano). I really liked his Davison so I agreed to the trade but said if he changed his mind, to give me a call and I would let him swap back. Well he called me this morning and said he would like to keep the Dano so the deal is done. I now own a Davison guitar that I know absolutely nothing about other than it plays and sounds really good. Also, the rosewood board is cleared like on a Ricky.
