A great video No prob! And I know; that's like the World Series, Superbowl, Pro Bowl, etc., of guitar all wrapped up into one! Who would have ever imagined Setzer with Van Halen? Kuroyama May 2nd, 2010, 08:01 AM I havent seen that many guitars on stage at once since that SRV special in the early 90s! Great find! rcboals May 2nd, 2010, 08:56 AM All I can say is WOW WOW! Don't see many videos with that many great players in one place. Thanks for posting it. Renegade May 2nd, 2010, 09:16 AM Thanks Bozman, that was cooooooooooooooooooool. Sarah93003 May 2nd, 2010, 09:55 AM That was very, very cool! gruvsyco May 2nd, 2010, 11:24 AM I've seen this one before... very cool. I think it was part of some Les Paul show and the last song (where everyone on the show comes out and jams). Here's a link with the intro by Les himself. ipTB4arOpSY Lizardkinged May 2nd, 2010, 11:48 AM There was not enough brown sound or David Gilmore in that vid, but its good to see so many different smiling faces. Bengal65 May 2nd, 2010, 11:59 AM Very cool! Back in the 80's, Brian May did a few records, called Brian May and Friends. He had Eddie VanHalen on several tunes. If you didn't know Eddie was on the record, you would never have guessed. He reverted to his hero's style of playing, Eric Clapton. The sound was just a pure blues without the signature licks. Really neat. I think the record is out of print now. gruvsyco May 2nd, 2010, 12:05 PM Very cool! Back in the 80's, Brian May did a few records, called Brian May and Friends. I had Starfleet Project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fleet_Project). Thunderball May 2nd, 2010, 01:31 PM Cool video. Let's be honest, out of all the players up on that stage: - Setzer - Eddie - B.B. King - Gilmour - Stanley Jordan - Les Paul - Jan Hammer - Waylon Jennings - Steve Miller Brian Setzer is the best of that lot. Bengal65 May 2nd, 2010, 01:56 PM Wow.. I totally forgot about that stuff. I had Starfleet Project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Fleet_Project). Yeah, that's the one. It was amazing. I'm like going, where's Eddie on this record?:) rcboals May 2nd, 2010, 02:40 PM Cool video. Let's be honest, out of all the players up on that stage: - Setzer - Eddie - B.B. King - Gilmour - Stanley Jordan - Les Paul - Jan Hammer - Waylon Jennings - Steve Miller Brian Setzer is the best of that lot. Which one do you think is the best original? My vote goes to Les Paul and BB King for being original greats. Thunderball May 2nd, 2010, 03:21 PM - Setzer - Eddie - B.B. King - Gilmour - Stanley Jordan - Les Paul - Jan Hammer - Waylon Jennings - Steve Miller I'm not at all into lead playing. Out of those players, Setzer's leads were always the best for the song - exciting and lively. Gilmour definitely had the best sound of those guys. The rest are all uninteresting to me, even Eddie. However, I do think Eddie was an incredible rhythm player. Something like "Unchained" or "D.O.A." is rhythm playing as monstrous and great as can be. DW_Dillinger May 2nd, 2010, 03:41 PM Wow..ive never seen that before, I would have thought that clip would be more well known considering the assemblage of players involved (I guess im basing its nonewellknowness on the fact that i personally havent seen it). while it borders on musical grabass its awesome nonetheless. Setzer is my favorite player of the bunch but i would bet he would rank near the bottom if this was posted on another guitar forum. falzoony May 3rd, 2010, 05:41 AM Wow thanks for sharing that was really amazing. Flynnski May 3rd, 2010, 06:41 AM I guess my invite got lost....... bobkat May 3rd, 2010, 06:58 AM Damn! Brian is incredible! I just can't get over the fact that he sounded and played better than everyone on stage! Gretsch guitars just sound better to me. Brian is just a better all around player! I think he could swap leads with Joe Pass, Chet, and Les! He can do it all, and still ROCK hotter than VH!! dazzajl May 4th, 2010, 09:09 AM Cool video. As a complete newb around these parts that wandered in a couple a days ago with a light case of Jet fever it's good to see that the Gretsch coloured spectacles (or should that be rose coloured Gretschticles) are all powerful. ;) Before reading through here I would have had no idea who Brian Setzer was. He did sound by far the best in that clip but then he did have the honor of being top dog, having his band there and being in his musical comfort zone. For me, it's always great to see these monster lineups, even if they never sound as good as any one player would alone. Also good to add another name to the list of greats who's talents can inspire. Going off topic a tad, the best one of these clips I ever saw was with Ry Cooder outshining the entire blues world with a nylon string acoustic that looked like he pulled it out the rubbish and ran over it on the way to the gig. Goombilly May 4th, 2010, 12:20 PM It is sooooo cool to watch Les Paul when he starts jamming. LesPauloholic May 14th, 2010, 08:48 PM I think that was from Les Paul's birthday celebration (70'th maybe). What a group!! collared_dove4 May 15th, 2010, 07:25 PM I have that on an album 'Jammin With The Stray Cats' (: Chancey77 May 16th, 2010, 12:25 AM As awesome as Setzer is ....I am sorry but BB King had all of the soul in that video, the other guitar heroes where good, but I must say BB took them all to school. Every note he played as messy as that video is, you could always hear Lucille over all that jumbled mess. Less is more in my book, and 5 soulful notes beats any over the top guitar hero white boy any day! (all in one breath) hahaha That was cool, thanks for the post:) guybo38 May 16th, 2010, 06:43 AM BB king for me too, BB once said in a radio interview that Eddie cochran was one of the only few white artists who played the blues with any feeling ( that quote was pre setzer days though ). spikeskug June 18th, 2010, 12:25 AM My head just exploded 0_0 | ||
