GreatGretsch April 30th, 2010, 11:20 PM I picked this up Ibanez Exotic Wood guitar at GC for a blow out price. It's a great guitar for the money and works great for live gigs. The Ibanez got more nice comments than my new purple Gretsch Hot Rod:(. It's not a Martin, but it's a great gigging guitar. I wouldn't want to bring a Martin to most of the gigs I play. It would get beat up.
In this clip, it's going directly into a small pa system with a very inexpensive Fender monitor facing the crowd. I'm using the XLR output from the guitar.

Leobeat May 1st, 2010, 09:58 AM It sounds very good and with a well balanced tone!, and looks very good too!. I like it.
Mr. Bill May 1st, 2010, 10:28 AM I have an Ibby PF that I bought for a beater and it sounds great!
Lizardkinged May 1st, 2010, 10:44 AM The koreans actually have really good wood-crafting skills. . . I would think they're acoustics would stand to be no exception. Not to mention I've always thought Ibanez had fair QC (even tho I've never owned one). all of my friends have had good experiences, and the ones I've worked on seemed to be in good shape.
I like how at 1:35 some lady goes "I recognize that song!" all befuddled @ whats different about it.
GreatGretsch May 1st, 2010, 10:54 AM I was pretty set on getting a Martin 1 Series, but I did not read or talk to anyone that likes the Stratabond necks. They don't react like the rest of the wood in different humidity situations. This causes the a warp where the neck and body meet. I would never humidify the guitar properly to keep this from happening. I'll have to wait a while until I can afford a better Martin.
The Ibanez suits me perfectly. It is an orchestra size. It has more of a mid range boost to it. This mid boost fits my style better than a dreadnought. It sounds more like a Gretsch than a dread. I do a lot of double string mixed with single note leads and it seems sound better for that style. If I were more of a strummer, I would probably go with a dread.
On this clip you can hear how it almost gets a mandolin type of tone out of it.

Jemwielder May 21st, 2010, 10:16 AM I have an Ibanez AW100CE that I got back in 2001 that I chose over a Martin, an Ovation and a Gibson. It just sounded better. Go figure.
Lizardkinged May 21st, 2010, 10:28 AM Martin's are just very overrated these days. 20 years ago was a different story, but most are better off with guilds, and in some cases, yamahas.

Yeah, I've never been impressed. I forgot to mention that taylor was also on that list. Never cared much for them either.
GreatGretsch May 21st, 2010, 01:47 PM I just picked up a Bose L1 Compact system. The Ibanez sounds fantastic through it. The sound has almost no coloration. The guitar sounds just like it does unplugged, only louder. The same applies to singing.
I tried a bunch of different systems and nothing compares to it. I tried Mackie, Fender Passport, B52, Fishman and my own JBL system. Many sounded good, but they aren't even in the same ballpark. They are well worth the money spent.
Bear May 21st, 2010, 03:50 PM I have a Korean built Ibanez Artcore AFS75T that I have owned for more than ten years and I love it dearly. It is an exceptional guitar. I did swap the humbuckers is came with for dog ear P90s only because I prefer single coil pickups.
