We need some changes around here

I've notice that recently the page size increase from 10 posts per page to 20 posts per page. That's OK, but sometimes increases page load time.

What we REALLY NEED

Is to have threads open to THE LAST PAGE.

That'd be cool.

I thought that was an option at one time, but can't remember how to effect that.

Jeff, all you have to do is hit the "New Posts" button, and then for each post that you want to view, click on the green arrowhttp://www.gretsch-talk.com/forum/styles/orangefusion/buttons/firstnew.gif beside the post title. It always takes me to exactly where I left off in reading the thread.

It can. Just go to User CP/edit optionsThread display mode and select Linear - newest first

OK, found her to make changes I described. I'm cool now.

The NEWEST first puts all posts in reverse order. Don't really like that.

But I shortened the pages down to 10 posts.

To me, asking for threads to open 'to THE LAST PAGE' is exactly that, so you have the latest posts first i.e Newest Posts first. I guess we must have different understanding of terminology, so it sounds like you want Oldest First

Paul - please don't think I was complaining. I figured there were some ways to fix what I was doing. One thing was fixed, one wasn't. I'm batting .500. I'd be a superstar in baseball.

I think he might be referring to his list of active members for a number ;)

Jeff,

When I get time I'll write a Cisco IOS interface to overlay vBulletin. When you want to read a thread you'll use the "show" command and to post you'll have to type "conf t". When you are satisfied that your post is as you want it you'll type "copy post thread" and it will commit your changes to the thread. If you wonder how many times your new thread has been read you can type "show thread [threadname]" and it'll tell you how many people have opened the thread. If you forget to enter a threadname it will list every thread on the board in alphabetical order including the number of hits it has. If you get tired of that scrolling bown your terminal screen "ctrl C" will do nothing but "ctrl shift 6" will bring you back to a prompt instantly. Once this is up and running the entire board will run on 256 mb of R.A.M. but the ram will cost $8 per meg. :)
