PLayed a Deluxe Vm today as I was killing some time. I cannot conferm this but is sounded alot like a Hot Rod and not so much like a Deluxe..
Is there anything to that?

I bought a Deluxe VM a little over a month ago...took it back after a couple of weeks...the clean channel was just too bright sounding for me, no matter how I set the tone. The drive channel was functional, and I actually liked the digital effects(although the chorus was somewhat limited[to my ears] in what it could do).
I've never owned a Hot Rod Deluxe so I can't give a valid comparison there, but I've owned several Deluxe Reverbs(vintage and reissue) and, again, the VM was just brighter than a Deluxe Reverb to my ears, so bright that I really couldn't use it in any venue that I work in.

Been thinking of picking up another DRRI. Watching them on the bay go for ~ $700. There's one now 1 1/2 yrs old with a BIN of $750.

I liked the idea of onboard effects, I only use reverb and delay So it seemed to be a mtch, But I hate Hot Rods..
I am going to try one of those Marshall Haze 40's today, I have always been a fan of Marshall clean and this one has a bright switch so it might be perfect unless I get that Poison, Warrant, Ratt from the overdrive channel. Then I might have to break out some spandex and rock like Dokken

I heard a stock DRRI Friday night and was very impressed by how it sounded.

The Hot Rod Deluxe I have is a real keeper in my opinion. Of course we all have an ear for what we are looking for. Synchro played through it at the Little Falls Jam.

I liked it a lot. It sounded great, easy to tame.

Tara: Don't know if I am guilty here but this is a picture of it.
And a bonus photo:

I'm very tempted by the DRRI, but haven't heard one in person. Has anyone compared one to a Princeton Reverb Reissue?

I've played both. The PRRI costs only about $50 less than the DRRI and IMO it doesn't sound nearly as good for the clean Blackface sound I love. It will break up earlier but it's still far too loud to crank up in an apartment. For my money, I'd go with the Deluxe Reverb and enjoy the lush reverb coming through a 12" speaker. Listen to the song Detour at this MySpace site and you'll hear an example, to the best of my knowledge this is an ES 335 played though a stock DRRI with no added effects. Los Straightjackets are known to use Deluxes also.

That is a beautiful Washburn Pop's!! I've had serious acoustic GAS lately! I just bought a Dean Exotica Koa that I absolutely love. Where did you pick up that Washburn and how much did it run you if you don't mind me asking?
