Reverb Issue with Gretsch 6162 Amp
Hi all - I recently picked up an early-60s Gretsch 6162 amp. It sounds great and everything works like it is supposed to, except for one issue - when the amp is in my amp stand and you turn on the reverb, it makes a loud and intolerable noise. It's kind of like a hum but much louder and way more intense. When the amp is not in the amp stand, this does not happen and the reverb sounds fine (well, as fine as those reverb tanks can).
The problem does not occur when the amp is tilted or raised in the air unless it is sitting on the stand. When it is on the stand, the reveb tank is near (but not touching) one of the metal support bars, and so I am guessing there may be some kind of magnetic interference or something? I am a total neophyte at this stuff, so forgive me if I am overlooking something obvious.
Thanks for any tips you can provide.

I'm no tech head either but your hunch makes a lot of sense to me.
Have you tried separating the amp from the metal with some rubber carpet underlay or some such material? That might prove your point
Interestingly, when I used to gig my DRRI I would put it on two side by side metal speaker stands without any problems

Thanks Nick - I didn't try anything rubber, although I did try laying some t-shorts and towels over the reverb tank - no effect. Note that the reverb tank is never actually touching the metal amp stand itself, and the sound stops when I pull the amp even 2 or 3 inches away from the stand. Weird.
I'd appreciate any other thoughts from the incredible collective wisdom on this forum.

Was the amp stand made of finest Damascus steel, forged by blind Samurai monks who were put to death after they finished their work, only one of them lived long enough to put a curse on the amp stand, and the present and future emperors of Japan?
Oh wait never mind that was a movie... or maybe a video game.
