Default NGD Dr. Z Brake Lite

Hey everyone!

So after all the advice I managed to get from my earlier thread on attenuators, I have got mine!

I Love It. It doesn't colour my tone at all and is almost like it isn't there.

Notice how I said almost? Now it does everything it is supposed to do. There are just some things that are side effects of any, yes any, attenuator.

The first is Speaker response, when on the highest setting (most attenuated) you do feel that the amp doesn't react to your playing technique as much, but I knew this would happen and will very rarely use this setting.

The other is how boost pedals work with the attenuator. On the higher two settings (3 & 4) they definitely add crunch and sustain and all the other malarkey, but because of the attenuator they don't give you the dynamic response that your amp would normally have. Put simply, in my opinion of course, they don't add volume they add to the sound and tone.

As with anything as personal as our individual rigs, Your mileage may vary.

Thanks to all of you who offered help and guidance as to which one to get, and to those who asked questions I didn't even know I had!

And now for the photo! Its not very interesting but I thought... why not!

Thanks Dan. I have one on order right now so I'm very pleased you like yours. I'm installing it in a DRRI and want to reduce the volume to a rehearsal level, not a bedroom level. From your comments I'm assuming that is in the cards?

So you're braking now! Nice to see that it does the job.
I ran Monza on 8 thru the Air Brake on 4, with the bedroom knob on 0, it sounded wonderful.

Completely achievable, I wasn't looking for bedroom playing levels either because I knew it wouldn't sound 'right' (you can only go so quiet with a tube amp before it doesn't sound as it should)

I also think that you can adjust the step of the knob, on the inside the we're brackets around some sort of coil, this is way each step was wired to so I assume moving them along the coils would increase or decrease the jumps between steps... Don't quote me on that though!

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

Thanks for the help you offered Darko, especially seeing as you had used all the other possible contenders!
