So ive been playing through a ridiculous amp that is totally not for this style of music. Its a Bugera 6260 so basically, its a 5150 copy. But I just cant quite get that real tone I am looking for out of it.

Im debating ordering a Fender Blues Deluxe. I love the tweed look to the max. Tracking down an early 60's bassman isnt easy, and I dont really want to pay upfront for it. Doing like 8 payments online is significantly nicer lol

So basically, what would you guys recommend? Im a tone chaser so Ill never really be satisfied.

A lot of people like the old Tweed series Fender amps but then there's a whole crowd who likes various Fender Bassman amps.

But I think the Blues Deluxe is a great place to start. Can't go wrong with that amp for a variety of styles.

To be perfectly honest, I have yet to come across any amp that has a vintage voice that wouldn't work. Heard some great rockabilly tones from everything from a VHT Special to a Dr. Z Route 66 to a Nocturne Blondeshell to a Line6 Pod to Fenders to Gibsons and the list goes on and on.

this is the best question! I could easily say I make the greatest rockabilly amp but the price is cork sniffer because of its build quality/components. Perfect for chasing those vintage tone ghosts but there are a million amps out there for
low bucks that sound fantastic.

Ever heard Darryl Higham playing with his wife Imelda May? He likes the good old Peavey 1x15 and those are all over for what $300-400?

Walt from the Psychovilles uses fender devilles (might have a hotrod deville now)

these are affordable amps! Ronnie Crutcher of hillbilly casino recorded their latest "Tennessee Stomp" using a Vox nighttrain in uncompress mode!! (although he uses 63' blondes and a marsh clone bassman live with a dr Z attenuator on it)

Lots of great amps in that price range. Many here would recommend the Deluxe Reverb Reissue or the Fender Hot Rods.

Yeah I was looking at the hot rod deville III a little bit ago. Right now, I think that might be my amp of choice

It wouldnt be for like, a few months but I would be willing to drop probably up to 400 for something if I found a good used amp or something in one lump sum.

Tavo is right about the Peavey Delta Blues 1x15. Great 30 watt amp for a range of styles. I own one, play it daily. But I think for amps, Rockabilly is spelt F-E-N-D-E-R.

Yea, but Tavo makes a good point. The Fenders and Peavys he mentioned are great amps. My son wanted this fancy Marshall with lots of effects and stuff and he was really happy with it for about a week. Then he realized that he wanted a tube amp. So we sold the Marshall and I got him a Hot Rod Deluxe. He's been happy with it for 5 years now and still counting.

For a grand you could get a Gretsch Playboy from Rocky. I committed the heresy of getting rid of a Gretsch Executive to go back to a Fender Princeton Reverb, which suits the music well, as does a Deluxe Reverb.

id LOVE to pickup a gretsch playboy, but I cant ever find them anywhere lol. and if Im spending 1000 on something, I can only do it from those sites with payment options.
