Default Total Klutz here... help ?

Just installed a new Weber California Ceramic in my Gretsch Executive. All seemed to go ok but turned the amp on and blew the fuse ? No loose screws, nuts, washers in the guts. All hardware accounted for and installed so not shorts from foreign objects.

The weber has a red terminal and a silver terminal. My speaker cable is white wire / black wire. Which goes where ? And if I did them backwards would that cause a fuse to blow ?

I can barely change a light bulb so be kind here

I would have gone red to white, silver to black. That would make sense to me.

wiring a speaker backwards isnt going to blow a fuse, but using the wrong speaker ohmage can.. The amp usually specs its speaker output ohms and as well so does the speaker.
IF you are confused as to what the speaker wiring lead is, stick a 9volt battery on the terminals, you want the positive to positive so the speaker pops forward.. it shouldnt be firing backwards (in towards the basket)

Solved. Must have been a really fluky coniencidence ? Speaker is the right ohms, and I had it wired correctly.

Went and got new fuses... installed one and it's working just fine !

Weber Cali ceramic sounds awesome in the Exec BTW !

Thanks guys.

heck ya the weber california is very nice. I like the chicagos too, snarky as hell when they are new but give them a month of hard playing and voila!
