Hurry up and wait NAD coming
I ordered a new Vox ac4tvh and cab. I currently have a Fender Mustang and just wanted something with tubey goodness I could play in the house without making my wife crazy and the cats loosing a life or two. Really wanted to play one before I purchased but none where to be found within a reasonable driving distance. After listening to many sound clips and utube videos/reviews I decided to take the chance. Figure I can sell it without losing too much pocket change if I really hate it. But I have a feeling I will like it. Now it's just the waiting game for my new toy to arrive.

Tinman, did you check out the Super Champ X2. L&M has the heads for $299 and they sound amazing. I loaded up a couple of Eminence Red Coats into an old cab I had and did a gig with the little amp a couple of weeks ago. It was fantastic. I had tubey goodness and Gretschiness happening all over the stage.

I did check those out and was definitely my 2nd choice. Actually I flipped back and forth for a while and chose the vox. I slightly prefer the vox crunch.

OK. So last night I get the phone call...the one cable I ordered is no longer available is there another choice...sort that out. Then they tell me the Head is back ordered till the end of May and the cab till the end of June. Now I'm asking myself is it worth the wait? My biggest draw to the Vox ac4 was the built in 1/4watt, 1watt, 4watt adjustment so I could play at lower volumes. And I love the tone.
Can the Fender x2 hd be played at lower volumes and still deliver?
With the modelling and effects available on the Fender can I produce Vox tone or something similar?

Tinman46: I had one of the Fender Super Champ XC amps and it worked great in and out of the house. The modeling effects are quite useable also.

You can turn the X2 down to conversational volumes and still get a great sound from it. I'm not sure if you can ever get a 6V6 to sound exactly like an EL84 but the X2 gets very, very close. It also does the Fender 6V6 sounds as good as anything Fender makes and that's very nice.
Best of all, if you already have a Mustang, the X2 uses the same excellent Fuse software as the Mustang to create it's sounds. Unlike the SCXD, the sounds you create with the Fuse software can be saved to the X2. It can contain 16 user programmable pre-sets on board (I use 4) and an infinite amount in the Fuse software. It even has a speaker emulated 1/4" line out and a USB line out for recording.
My amp demands are pretty high. I love collecting guitars but I'm not much on collecting amps. I need my amps to sound great with 34 guitars. I also play in a band. We don't gig out much (out of choice) but we are all ex-full time musicians and our standards of sound quality and reliability are very high. We don't play really loud but it's loud enough and our drummer hits the cans pretty good and I have no problem getting over the band.
Imagine my total shock when our keyboardist stops a song right in the middle so he can tell me that my Caddy Green Jet going through the X2 (with Eminence Red Coat) is the BEST sounding guitar rig he has every heard! Now maybe it isn't but this guy has been a serious blues, R&B and jazz player for 45 years and is slicker than baby poop on a ceramic tile. When he ventures a sound opinion, I listen.
As you can tell, I've been very happy with the X2 since I got it. It solves a few minor issues that the SCXD (I have one of them too) had and introduces some fantastic features. It's only my ridiculous opinion but I think you would be much happier with it as opposed to the little Vox AC4. I had one of those too and took it back to L&M as I found it kinda muddy and not very versatile (remember the 34 guitars.) I hope this helps.

Alright, that's what I needed/wanted to hear. I will go ahead with the X2. It is a more versatile amp, my biggest concern was volume but that doesn't seem to be an issue, and if I ever get to the point where I play out it would be the better option.
Thanks
