I Think I've Completely Given Up On Pedals
Friday's gig was the first time that I have used my pedalboard in about a year and it may well be the last time I use effects pedals. I brought it along, set it up, removed a pedal that had become noisy and literally didn't play one note with any of the effects engaged.
There's no bitterness, angst or malice to this, I just simply cannot see any reason to use external effects in creating my sound. I always play clean, love the onboard reverb and can't really think of any other effect I want. I've toyed with tremolo on my Blackface amps but never actually use it on stage. No insult intended to any person or product but if I had half of the money that I've spent on pedals I'd be thrilled to get rid of them. I've just never heard one that could do anything I like more then the sound of my gretsch plugged straight into a Blackface.
