That "Great Gretsch Sound" is really subjective. I think Duane Eddy gets that sound, but I also think Malcolm Young gets that sound. Both are significantly different, but still the Gretsch sound. That great Gretsch sound can vary from Chet Atkins to Brian Setzer to Billy Duffy, so it's definitely all over the place.
Now, being an EL84 amp kinda guy, I'd say you have to simply readjust the settings on your amp. An Annie is not a Les Paul or a Telecaster, so you can't set the amp like you set it for either. TV's are pretty hot sounding for being fairly low output too, so try dialing out some preamp gain and upping the power section (if that amp has a preamp/master volume setup). You'll get that punch and spank you're looking for out of that Annie then. I play through a Vox AC30 a lot of the time, and if I get heavy on the channel volume dials the amp just gets boomy with a Gretsch plugged in.
